KAI Texas Architect Derwin Broughton Selected to Moderate AIA National Leadership Institute in Dallas

KAI Texas is proud to announce that Senior Project Architect/Project Manager Derwin Broughton, AIA, has been selected to host and moderate the AIA National Leadership Institute on Nov. 18 in Dallas, TX.

The vision of AIA Leadership Institute is to provide leadership education for architects and emerging professionals and to empower AIA members toward becoming effective leaders within their firms and the communities they serve. Paired with the national plenary, Dallas-based participants will engage in local sessions designed to support and build skills and learn about leadership in their communities. Panel and workshop-style presentations will demonstrate the different methods of leading architects in their communities and provide future opportunities for attendees to pursue.

The AIA Leadership Institute is a unique multi-venue event, maximizing technology to connect leaders across the country. Regional venues include Charleston, SC; Dallas, TX; Indianapolis, MN; San Francisco, CA and Washington, DC. Participants may attend the event at one of the regional venues, or watch a live broadcast from any location.

Broughton, recipient of a 2013 AIA Institute Young Architects Award, is passionate about architecture and mentoring emerging professionals, as well as minorities and underrepresented groups within the industry. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from Clemson University and is a member of the Texas Society of Architects and a board member for the American Institute of Architects - Dallas Chapter. He began working for KAI Texas in 2013 and served as a panelist at last year's event in San Antonio, TX.

“Any discussion about leadership is a dialogue I get excited about," said Broughton. "The AIA’s vision for cultivating future leaders in our community is pivotal in the advancement and betterment of the built environment. It is an honor and privilege to serve as the host and moderator for the AIA Leadership Institute in Dallas.”
