Rockwood Students Tour Carondelet Community Center

This past week, 5th grade students from Rockwood's gifted program toured the KAI-designed Carondelet Community Center as part of Rockwood's Partners in Education program. KAI architects Marcus Moomey and Arno Sandoval led the students, who were studying architecture, on a tour of the facility. The tour focused on such things as:

KAI Announces New Director of Architecture, Michael D. Voit, AIA

KAI recently welcomed Michael D. Voit, AIA, to the firm as Director of Architecture. Voit, a Texas-based architect, brings a diverse experience creating spaces where people learn, play and pray. “Michael’s portfolio of projects fits perfectly into the work we’re doing here,” says Michael B. Kennedy, President of KAI.

Our local airport, Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, sees an estimated 13 million travelers each year, with over 250 daily flights. In 2013, the busiest day at Lambert was the Sunday after Thanksgiving, with more than 20,000 departing passengers.

Hartmann and Sandoval Selected for Revit Gunslingers

KAI is home to two Revit Gunslingers! Mike Hartmann and Arno Sandoval are both members of this ‘invitation-only’ group for Autodesk. Gunslingers beta test new versions of Revit and this year, Autodesk will be holding two sessions, each with Architecture, MEP, and Structural groups. Mike was one of 16 invitees from across the country for the past two years, and some of his comments and suggestions were incorporated into the final versions of the software. As a member of the Architecture group, this will be Arno’s first year attending. Congratulations guys!

KAI, Kwame complete $7.5M Harrison Education Center

KAI Design & Build, a St. Louis-based minority business enterprise, provided architectural,mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering; interior design; and cost estimating services on the $7.5 million Harrison Education Center for St. Louis Community College.

Students living within Kansas City's urban areas now have the resources to learn how to garden, manage their money and maintain good health practices, among other useful life skills, with completion of the Lincoln University Urban Impact Center in Kansas City, MO. St. Louis-based KAI Design & Build was the architect on the $950,000 project.

McCormack Baron’s $30M development gets tax abatement

KAI Design & Build is the general contractor and architect for the Arlington Grove development. Developer McCormack Baron Salazar’s $30 million plan to redevelop a block-long stretch of properties in north St. Louis was approved for a 15-year tax abatement for the project.
